Focus on Soak Us
It’s bad enough to have to sit Through laughter, wild and raucous, Without officials coming by To push and shove and poke us. The politicians lecture us, With all their hocus pocus; It hard to listen to their lies, And still maintain our focus. Let’s mark them by their boutonnière; We’ll make them wear a crocus. Last time they passed a budget, It very nearly broke us. Next time they try to take our rights, Let’s make them all invoke us. They passed home-land security, And never even woke us. We held our last election and They never once bespoke us. You’d better vote the next time ‘round Before they all revoke us, And hook us up to pull a plow, After they blind and yoke us. To keep us in a good mood now, They only need to joke us, And throw their pork among their friends: Another way to soak us. From: The Beckoning Hand Copyright 2006 © James Walter Orr
